about

A couple of months ago during lockdown I had this stupid idea of cutting all my hair really short. I don't know why I thought this was a good idea. I guess it was a mix of wanting a change, my hair getting too long and knowing this would be a rare time that even if I didn't like it not many people would see it. Well after I did it I instantly regretted it. I just didn't like it and I was stuck with it. It was also partially my fault as since I used my beard trimmer for it and I set it at a way to close of a cut. Anyway, the day after I wrote this song. It all came out quite quickly and it's just about how you view yourself and self-image in general.

During this time I was also at my girlfriend's house and her father is a French horn player and so taking advantage of the opportunity I couldn't help but write a horn part for the chorus. I actually quite like how it came out. There is definitely a bit of a Neutral Milk Hotel inspiration there. Shortly after writing and arranging the song, I ended up travelling to my parent's house and since my father plays bass I thought it would be fun to have him play the bass part on the song too.

After a couple of days after the initial conception of the song, I thought that I might actually release it. So then and there I decided to take a photo of my new haircut to use for the cover art.

lyrics

Is this the good part?
Then why I’m a fucking nervous all the time?
I’ve cut my hair but
I don’t like how it’s turned out
The photograph makes me double-take
Is that how my nose looks in profile?
Does anybody like themselves naked?
I dread getting out of the pool
The water reflects off of your eyes
I start to wonder why we’re even here

Here at all here again
Here at all here again
Here at all here again
Here at all here again

Is this the fun part?
Then why I’m a goddamn nervous all the time
You’ve cut your hair but
I only notice when you point it out
The past comes back in different forms
My skin reacts by sweating from its pours
I get nervous in department stores
As if I’m not supposed to be there at all
Your fingers trail past the shirts
I start to wonder why we’re even here

Here at all here again
Here at all here again
Here at all here again
Here at all here again

I wanna seesaw I wanna seesaw
I wanna seesaw I wanna seesaw with you
I wanna seesaw I wanna seesaw
I wanna seesaw I wanna seesaw with you

The pillow moulds your phone lit face
I’m pretty lucky I found a mate
